Historian. Researcher. The voice you hear in the dark. This is the story behind ZeitCrimes — and the person chasing it.
I'm Rene Hinojosa. Host of ZeitCrimes. I've spent years researching crimes to understand how environment shapes violence. The most important crimes don't just punish a person they change a country. New laws. New fears. Causing the crimes to "enter the zeit," and become part of the shared American consciousness.
ZeitCrimes is where I bring those cases to your ears. Every episode is built from primary sources — court transcripts, professional journals, scholary works, and the voices of people who were there. I don't sensationalize, and I don't guess. I let the record speak, and I tell you exactly where the gaps are.
"A single crime can move a whole nation. My job is to show you how."
— Rene Hinojosa
The nations's crimes revealed and pointed to something that I hadn't thought before. It seemed that we were leading ourselves to believe that there was something wrong with the criminal but never asked ourselves what if the nation helped create these crimes?
Shaping my theory about past and preent crimes My studies begun — and got obsessed with the cases that quietly rewrote the law, reshaped Society, Power and History itself.
Built a pocast studio and started turning case files into audio for my show. The work was tedious but it is a passion of mine. That was the spark.
Season 01 dropped. Within months, listener tips were shaping the cases I covered next.
Independent, listener-funded, and still doing it the slow way — one verified line at a time.
